Gender pay gap and the impact of the crisis on men and women: the opinion of the Advisory Committee on equality for men and women10 August 2009
The Advisory Committee on equal opportunities for women and men adopted two opinions; one on the gender pay gap and the other on the differential impact of the economic and financial crisis on women and men.
The opinion on the crisis adopted by the Advisory Committee on equal opportunities for women and men stresses the fact women and men are affected differently by the financial and economic downturn. Recommendations advise the incorporation of a gender perspective in the national and EU policy responses to the crisis. The Advisory Committee draws attention to the persisting obstacles to equal pay in the opinion on the gender pay gap and provides recommendations on how these can be overcome.
