New Equinet publications available

Equinet has recently published two opinions, covering the issues of disability and gender equality respectively.

"Towards a new European Union Disability Action Plan" is Equinet's answer to the commitment of the European Commission to prepare a new Disability Action Plan. The Action Plan is vital in ensuring that those responsible for policy making understand and respond to the diverse and specific needs of people with disabilities. Equinet welcomes the opportunity to provide an opinion in this field.

 The publication "New Directions for Equality between Women and Men" contains Equinet's position on the European Commission's new Roadmap for Equality between Women and Men. Persistence of gender inequality experienced by women throughout the European Union reflects the need for the review and further development of the equal treatment legislation.  

Both opinions were prepared by Equinet's Working Group on Policy Formation and draw directly from the work of the specialised equality bodies in implementing equal treatment legislation at member state level.

The opinions are available in a bilingual (EN and FR) format.
